Feminine Spirituality and the Environment
This three-part series explores the connection of the sacred feminine and our environment. Beginning with the ancient Goddess traditions, the series traces the connection between the diminishment of woman and the neglect of the environment as patriarchy became the predominant culture.
October 1st, 7pm - 9pm, Part One: Goddess Remembered is a salute to 35,000 years of "pre-history," and to the values of these ancestors who revered woman as the metaphor of the sacred. This discussion links the loss of the goddess-centered societies with today's environmental crisis.
October 15th, 7pm - 9pm, Part Two: The Burning Times is an in-depth look at the witch hunts that swept through Europe just a few hundred years ago. This documentary advances the theory that widespread violence against women and the neglect of our environment today can be traced back to those times.
October 29th, 7pm - 9pm, Part Three: Full Circle is a documentary in which authors, teachers, social activists and feminists explore the manifestations of contemporary women's spirituality in the Western world. In this discussion we envision a sustainable future where domination is replaced with respect and at the center is a reverance for the Earth.
Presenters: Margaret Hoffelder and Marge White
Cost: $40 for the entire series; $15 for single sessions. Please register by October 10th.
